We believe in the power of doing what you love.

All around the world, there are passionate people who do what they love — unapologetically. in the face of seemingly insurmountable adversity, Palestinian continue to find ways to do what they love, and by doing so, they engage in an act of resistance.

At house of sumoud, we believe in the power of doing what you love as a way to reclaim space, power, and decolonize.

Sumoud Sounds pt. III

We’ve hosted two kickass events at Leavenworth’s beloved local watering hole, bushel & bee. First, we threw a rave for Gaza. Then we hosted an acoustic jam session with incredible arab artists. Sumoud sounds is coming back for another round of musical goodness this november — featuring a special immersive musical experience. More details to come…

A Very Falasteeni Christmas

While palestine is a muslim majority country, about 20% of the population is christian, and many Palestinians celebrate christmas! Join house of sumoud at the leavenworth christmas market this holiday season for special glühwein mugs, handmade wooden goods, and more.

Monthly Dabke Meet-Up

Fun fact: While House of SUmoud founder Anour esa is very much palestinian, he’s pretty bad at dabke. This dabke meet up is a judgement-free monthly gathering for anyone to show up and practice dancing dabke. We will have guest instructors each month, and a different focus of each meetup.

Film Screening: No Other Land

Join us for a powerful screening of No Other Land, an award-winning documentary offering an unflinching, firsthand look at the dispossession, demolitions, and daily humiliation faced by the Palestinian community of Masafer Yatta under Israeli occupation. Told through the eyes of those living the struggle and a journalist who befriends the community, the film captures both the heartbreak and steadfast resilience of a people fighting to remain on their ancestral land.

Tatreez & Chill

HAve you ever heard of tatreez? Palestinian embroidery! We’re gathering to learn from a palestinian american tatreez artist about the ancient embroidery technique, its cultural significance, and tatreez 101 — so you can start making your own tatreez designs at home. And yes, you should tatreez every item of clothing you have.
